Work at Home Job

Perhaps the main reason why anyone would want a work at home job is the independence such a job can afford. Freedom is something in short supply when you find yourself having to commute everyday to your office, spend hours sitting on site working in your computer, and so on and so forth. But with a work at home job, you get to set your own pace and, in the case of a home-based business, even have your self for a boss.

Clearly, work at home job are fast becoming a national trend as more and more people are scrambling to land a position in the telecommuting or home-based job industry. But with the popularity of work at home job offers many scammers are also taking advantage of this rare opportunity to con more people into their deceitful schemes. People touting false claims and hype ads about work at home jobs are becoming a problem in the industry as potential jobseekers get turned off by the lack of trust.

Before the Internet became an important public medium, these con artists reach their victims through the newspaper, U.S. mail, and telemarketing. Now, everything is much easier for them. For them to con people into spending their hard-earned money on work at home job opportunities which turn out to be worthless, they only need to spend a few hours sitting at their desk, typing on their keyboards, and hitting ‘send.’ With the Internet, they literally have hundreds of thousands of people at the tips of their fingers.

To avoid such scams, you need to read between the lines in an online work at home job ad. When you surf the net, be careful with work at home job ads that make exaggerated claims. When something sounds too good to be true, chances are, it probably is. Several talented individuals can use a web page to create a legitimate-looking company. However, take note that just because something looks legitimate doesn’t mean it is.

The most common work at home job scams you’ll find generally involve easy and get-rich-quick ventures, pyramid schemes, and the basic chain letter scenario. There are still those work at home jobs which can be considered both traditional and legitimate. These include handicrafts, stuffing envelopes, typing, medical transcription, legal documentation, etc, etc. But the thing is that these “traditional” work at home jobs are fast being replaced by more attractive scenarios where you are only required to use your PC in order to make money fast.
